Getting in

Thanh Hoa, especially the eastern area is easily accessible as the national railway and highway 1A run cut through the province. If you travel from the South of Vietnam, there are daily flights to Tho Xuan Airport.

Tourist attractions

Sam Son Beach is only 16 kilometers from the center of Thanh Hoa City. This definitely ranks as one of the most famous beaches in all Northern Vietnam. Each summer, travelers flock here from all corners of the country. But even if you want to avoid the crowds, it’s possible too, Fusion Resorts and A la Carte are two pioneers in bringing luxury travel to Sam Son.

Doc Cuoc Temple, Co Tien Pagoda and Truong Le Mountain are also famous tourist attractions in Sam Son.
Further to the south of the province, Hai Hoa Beach is a pristine beach as it is pretty new to tourism. You can also get close to the daily lives of local fishermen.
Similarly, Hai Tien Beach is unspoilt by mass tourism, considered as one of the most underrated beaches in Northern Vietnam. Here in the morning, you can attend the early market and even buy some seafood that is fresh but very cheap.

Traversing the great Ma River, Ham Rong Bridge is a symbol of will and resilience of the people here. In the past Ham Rong Bridge and the surrounding area was heavily bombed by American air force.
Lam Kinh is also an important historic site. This is where Le Loi, one of the greatest emperors of national history, established his own army then eventually defeated the invaders from China.
You cannot also miss the Citadel of Ho Dynasty, recently recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Until now, it is the only remaining stone citadel in Southeast Asia. It is believed that a big amount of artifacts are still there to be discovered.

On the western half of Thanh Hoa, you get plenty of hilly destinations, the home to colorful hill tribes. Some of them like Pu Luong, Kho Muong, Pho Don… are located near the Laos border.

And for adventure travelers, Ben An National Park is a fascinating eco-friendly spot featuring mountains, forests, and an extensive network of lakes and rivers. There is also a 3.000 ha lake with 20 islets in within.
